Tigernuts & horchata tour

Most popular valencian soft drink

From more than 10 centuries ago, La Huerta de Valencia is a system of different irrigated market gardens, the biggest and older of 6 it still exists in Europe. The institution who regulates the irrigation, the Tribunal de las Aguas, has been declared intangible mankind heritage.

At the north of La Huerta de Valencia it grows the tigernut, an small tuber. With it, we produce the most popular valencian drink, the Horchata, a vegan drink, very healthy, refreshing and nutritious. The tigernuts are included in diferents healty diets like paleo diet, it’s a superfood.

In this tour we will know the whole cycle from tigernut to the horchata, from planting, walking around the tigernuts fields, until to arrive at the drying building.

In addition, we invite you to a freshly craft horchata with fartons (typical sweet)  in an original Horchatería situated in the middle of the fields.

We also include a funny workshop for some volunteers to learn how made horchata at home to make the expierence absolutely complete!
