La Huerta in La Pobla de Farnals

Past & present of the town and his huerta

Historically linked to the Puig de Santa Maria, we know La Pobla de Farnals from the reference to the Alqueria of Frenales in a document wsigned by El Cid at the year 1098.

La Creu, as it is popularly known, has a large huerta space both east and west of the town. Although we found today mainly planted orange, khaki, olive trees and some vegetables such as artichokes; the garden of La Pobla has been known in recent history by growing fruits such as apricot or peach.

On this tour we know the history of the town and do a walk at the sunset for their irrigated fields, passing by an ancient medieval water mill and, finally, we arrive to the Real Acequia of Moncada, a very important irrigation channel.

In summer this route is organized for individuals by the city of La Pobla de Farnals. The starting point is the Plaza de la Iglesia, every Thursday at 19:00h.
